Jacobsen Unites for Day of Caring
Press Release | September 29, 2011
Jacobsen joined more than 80 companies to once again participate in United Way’s 19th Annual Day of Caring on September 8.
This year the Jacobsen crew installed a ceramic tile floor in two basement apartments (approx. 1,400 square feet) for TURN Community Services. The apartments are part of a group home used by handicapped adults.
The entire project was completed in about seven hours by 17 Jacobsen employees, who were treated to a home-cooked lunch by TURN and some of the grateful residents of apartments.
“It was an honor to work with you today in what is certainly a worthy cause," JCC President Doug Welling told the crew after the project was finished. "These folks will really enjoy their new floor. We made a difference today, and that's what really matters.”
According to the UW's website, 2011 marked the most successful and largest Day of Caring in United Way of Salt Lake’s history. With more than 3,000 volunteers representing 105 local companies, 145 one-day service projects were completed, totaling approximately 36,000 hours of community service.
