Jacobsen Wins Big at AGC Convention

Brent Rowley, AGC's Project Manager of the YearFour Jacobsen projects and one project manager received top honors in the Associated General Contractors (AGC) “Best of” competition, which were awarded Jan. 28 during the AGC’s annual convention.

University of Utah Hospital’s MICU Renovation won in the Healthcare /Small Projects category. “It’s a great honor to win for this project, which was small but very complicated,” explained Project Manager Jerry North. “We had a great time with the owner on this project—they were fantastic to work with, and I look forward to partnering with them again.”

Utah State University’s College of Agriculture was awarded Higher Education/Research Building Project of the Year. “I’m happy that this project was recognized by the AGC,” said Project Manager Matt Radke. “The College of Ag is a phenomenal research center that will serve USU well for years to come, and I’m proud to have been a part of that.”

Jacobsen was also recognized for its massive efforts on City Creek Center and The Regent Condominum Tower—each project received Project of the Year as part of AGC’s highest honor, Overall Project of the Year, which was given to the entire City Creek project. Brent Rowley, who served as construction manager on the massive retail development, also took home the award for Project Manager of the Year.

"I think it's hard for people to understand what a massive undertaking it is to oversee the construction of a 700,000 square-foot retail devleopment like City Creek Center, whose quality on every level is unmatched," explained Executive Vice President John Fortuna. "Only someone with Brent's aptitude and experience can pull it off successfully, and he certainly did for us. Nobody is more deserving of this award than Brent."
