LDS Church History Library Dedicated

Press Release | June 23, 2009

Hundreds were in attendance for the dedication of the LDS Church History Library on June 20, which is now home to the Church’s expansive archives.

The five-story library is a state-of-art preservation facility housing the Church's printed materials, records, manuscripts, publications, photographs and audiovisual items. Located on the northeast corner of North Temple and Main Streets, the facility contains 13 storage vaults spanning three floors—three of which are maintained at minus 4-degree temperatures for specific media preservation.

“What a tremendous honor it has been to be part of this project,” said Jacobsen Project Executive Kirk Dickamore. “It’s gratifying to know that we have assisted the Church in preserving its priceless historical collection.”

The Church History Library opened to the public on June 22.
