PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Award of this project to a single design/build team marked a first with the State of Utah. Not only did it combine four projects on as many Utah college campuses, but it also opened the door for an entirely new approach to campus building. Though each final building is different, the team identified similarities in the buildings to create a central spine around which all services are located, saving the State money through the process.
The four buildings were completed in July 2003 — a full month ahead of schedule and about $40 less per square foot than traditional campus construction. The colleges received approximately 22 percent more space than they thought they could afford.
