A commitment to sustainable construction has enabled Jacobsen to move up significantly on a widely-watched industry ranking. In the recently released Engineering News-Record (ENR) annual ranking of Top 100 Green Buildings Contractors, Jacobsen was the highest ranked firm in Utah, moving up from No. 61 to No. 45 among national and international contracting firms.

According to ENR, rankings are based on construction revenue generated from projects certified by third-party organizations that set standards for measuring a building’s environmental impact, energy efficiency or carbon footprint. The most prominent standard in the United States is the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC)’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) program. Jacobsen reported a revenue of $247 million in green contracting for 2015—50 percent of the firm’s total revenue.

“Each project we build contributes to the quality of life in our communities, and we’re committed to helping our clients create safe, sustainable environments,” explains Jacobsen CEO Doug Welling. “We’re looking toward a bright future with our clients, while being mindful of the global environment we’re striving to preserve,” Welling adds. “We want our communities to be the best that they can be for as long as possible, and look forward to setting a new record in this category again next year.”
