Jacobsen and University of Utah Health Care (UUHC) celebrated the opening of the Midvalley Health Center on Feb. 23, a new clinical facility that brings skin and eye treatment to a central location in Salt Lake County. As one of 14 UUHC specialty clinics in the Salt Lake Valley, the 81,000 square-foot medical center marks another milestone for UUHC: It’s the university’s only clinic to offer a full range of ophthalmology and dermatology care.
“With both vision and dermatology treatment offered, this clinic is a perfect representation of the way we strive to administer care at the University—never lose sight of or touch with our patients,” said Dr. Vivian Lee, CEO of UUHC. The first four floors have 70 patient rooms for ophthalmology and dermatology services, as well as areas for clinical and health services research. The fifth floor has been left open for future expansion.
“Jacobsen was outstanding,” said Dr. Randall Olson, chairman of the U of U’s ophthalmology department and CEO of the Moran Eye Center. “Their performance can be summed up in the four magic words you want to use for a contractor: On time, on budget.”
“It’s always gratifying to build facilities that make a positive impact on our communities, and that’s definitely true of the Midvalley Health Center,” said JCC Project Manager Heather Soderquist. “UUHC is a wonderful partner; building this with them and for them has been a great experience.”
