As the cornerstone of the Caine School of the Arts, the 400-seat Performance Hall serves as a beacon for local, national and international musicians. Its clean concrete exterior and unadorned wood-paneled concert hall makes the building look simple—but deceptively so. Every inch of the space was painstakingly designed and constructed for optimal amplification and features the newest acoustical technology.
Eighteen-inch concrete walls and six layers of drywall are installed underneath the wood panels to cancel any sound from outside. Shelf-like extrusions act as “bouncers,” deflecting the sound and evenly diffusing it back into the hall.
