PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Jacobsen made history on the historic Salt Lake City and County Building project, as it marked the very first retrofit of a historical building with seismic isolation. Due to the fragile nature of the existing building the use of heavy impact equipment, such as jackhammers, was not allowed. Restoration work included stone cutting and carving for exterior stone work and special plastering to match the ornamental walls, ceilings and covings.
In addition to being a pioneering endeavor in seismic isolation, the project was completed two months early and under budget.
