The House and Senate Buildings were the first phase of the Utah Capitol Restoration project. State employees—including staff from the Governor’s Office, Attorney General’s Office and the Utah State Legislature—worked in these office buildings during seismic retrofitting.
The buildings are identical, each comprising 92,500 square feet. The project scope included a 316-stall parking structure and a plaza. Each building’s exterior was constructed from solid granite and cubic stone, which replicated the classical architecture of the Capitol.
