At Jacobsen Construction, the math might be a little wonky — but it all adds up to one thing: a passion for building projects that foster learning, improve care, and revitalize communities.

Recently, Utah Construction & Design (UC&D) and Engineering News-Record (ENR) recognized Jacobsen’s excellence with several prestigious awards for projects totaling more than one million square feet across higher education, healthcare, recreation, office, and religious construction.

Key Jacobsen Award-Winning Projects:

  • The LDS Provo City Center Temple was also named Most Outstanding Project in the Renovation/Restoration (large projects) category. The project scope featured several extraordinary phases — including placing the building’s seven-million-pound shell on 40-foot-high stilts to excavate and create a basement level beneath the structure.
  • The Budge Clinic at Logan Regional Hospital won in the Health Care (large projects) category. This 100,000-square-foot expansion and remodel improves access to high-quality health care in Cache Valley.
  • The Ski Jumps at Utah Olympic Park soared above the competition in the Sports/Recreation (small projects) category. Thanks to painstaking, meticulous engineering, the new steel ramps feature spot-on simulation of snow-packed conditions, resulting in optimal training for the United States Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA).
  • The Central Instruction Building at Utah State University’s Eastern Campus earned the highest honor in the Higher Education (small projects) division. The 58,000-square-foot structure honors local mining heritage and enriches the 75-year-old campus.

Engineering News-Record (ENR) Mountain States Awards:

  • dōTERRA’s Worldwide Corporate Campus won top honors in the Office/Retail/Mixed-use category. Completed in two phases, the facilities feature a product center, spa, employee cafeteria, warehouse and testing lab.
  • The main-level expansion of Primary Children’s Hospital (PCH) was recognized in the Renovation/Restoration category. The project included a 10,000-square-foot addition to the hospital’s main entrance and lobby.
  • The Eccles Outpatient Services Building received an Award of Merit in the Healthcare category. The six-level, 230,000-square-foot facility is the first brand new building for PCH in more than two decades.

“It’s always a thrill to be recognized for our efforts,” said Jacobsen’s President Doug Welling. “We feel so fortunate to partner with such fantastic clients and deliver work that truly makes a difference in our communities. We share these honors with the LDS Church, Intermountain Healthcare, Utah Olympic Park and USSA, dōTERRA and USU Eastern; we also celebrate their efforts to make Utah a safer, healthier and more prosperous place.”
