SALT LAKE CITY — Jacobsen Construction Company’s professional builders gathered for a quarterly operations training this month at the firm’s headquarters to refine some of their self-perform work skillsets.

High-quality fire caulking and firestop system installation were the focus of the August training, said Heather Soderquist, Jacobsen’s director of operations training and development. Experts from Hilti led the demonstration with a hands-on approach.

“After the presentation, we practiced these skills by using a realistic real-life scenario,” Soderquist said. “When each employee can apply it hands-on as practice, it makes a big difference. It provides them a good measure of how much they already know and where they can improve their understanding.”
